Department of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the largest department in the Faculty of Science & Engineering in University of Burao. The department has and continued to produce several qualified engineers who have made important contributions in the planning and execution of many important civil engineering projects in Burao and Somaliland at large. The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2016, with the first batch consisting of 30 students who graduated in September 2020. Currently, the total number of students enrolled in the department of civil Engineering is 130. The Department of Civil Engineering is well-known for its reputed department members with optimum expertise in diverse fields. Presently, the department has 5 highly qualified, experienced, sincere and dedicated permanent teaching personnel, actively participating in research and consultancy work. Most importantly, the Department of Civil Engineering is equipped with a modern, sophisticated and well-equipped lab for Civil Engineering students. Notable machinery and equipment include the soil, concrete, aggregate, surveying and asphalt testing equipment which play a major role in the practical development of civil engineering students.
Department of Telecommunication Engineering
Telecommunication engineering is an engineering discipline centered on electrical and computer engineering which seeks to support and enhance telecommunication system. The work ranges from basic circuit design to strategic mass development, optical fiber cabling, IP networks and microwave transmission system. A telecommunication engineering is responsible for designing and overseeing the installation for telecommunication equipment and facilities, such as complex electronic switching system and other telephone service facilities. The Department of telecom Engineering was established in 2020, Currently the total number of students enrolled in the department of telecom Engineering is 70 students. Our vision is to become nationally and regionally recognized leader in telecommunications engineering research and education. Our mission is serve the Somaliland society by educating public about the telecommunication technologies through seminars, training courses and workshops and also providing consulting for public and private organizations
