THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
Background
The department of agriculture at the University of Burao is dedicated to enhancing agricultural practices through knowledge and technology transfer, with the ultimate goal of making changes in the living circumstances of communities in the Horn of Africa. The Department of Agriculture was established in 2006; this department graduated in the sixth batch and most of the students are working with governmental and non-governmental institutions.

III. RESEARCH & CONSULTANCY
- Research in crop improvement, rural youth migration, food and nutrition security, exploring constraints on crop farming for smallholder farmers, climate change mitigation and adaptation, food system resilience, ecosystem-based conservation, and climate-smart agriculture
DURATION
- The B.Sc. degrees in Agriculture are a four-year program designed to provide a fundamental education in the science of agriculture.

The Department of Agriculture was established in 2006; therefore, six batches graduated, and the total number of graduated students from this department were150.

The department of agriculture has 15 qualified lecturers with different degrees, including masters and PhDs.
