𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗢 (𝗨𝗼𝗕) 𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗡 – 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗜𝗖𝗧 The University of Burao (UoB) invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and dynamic academic leader for the position of Dean of Computing and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The successful candidate will provide academic, strategic, administrative, and research leadership to the Faculty of Computing and ICT and will contribute to strengthening the University’s teaching, research, innovation, digital transformation, and engagement with industry and the wider community. 𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 The Dean will: • Provide strategic and academic leadership to the Faculty of Computing and ICT. • Lead the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of academic programmes. • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, assessment, research, and academic quality. • Develop and implement initiatives that equip students with relevant, practical, and future-oriented knowledge, technical skills, professional competencies, and problem-solving abilities required for employment, entrepreneurship, research, and lifelong learning. • Create a learning environment that enables students to acquire practical Computing and ICT skills and apply their knowledge to real-world problems. • Lead curriculum development in areas including Computer Science, ICT, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Networking, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and emerging computing disciplines. • Promote research, publications, innovation, consultancy, and postgraduate supervision. • Develop and strengthen partnerships with universities, ICT industries, government institutions, professional organizations, and international partners. • Supervise and support academic and administrative staff and promote professional development. • Lead accreditation, quality assurance, programme review, and compliance with relevant higher-education standards. • Manage the Faculty’s academic resources, annual plans, budgets, laboratories, and infrastructure in collaboration with University management. • Promote student employability, entrepreneurship, internships, innovation, and industry engagement. • Establish opportunities for students to develop hands-on skills through practical projects, internships, industry collaboration, competitions, innovation initiatives, and community-based ICT projects. • Represent the Faculty in University committees and external academic and professional forums. • Support the University’s strategic objectives and contribute to institutional development. 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗠𝗨𝗠 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁: 1. Hold a PhD in Computing, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university. 2. Have a minimum of five (5) years of teaching and research experience in higher education. 3. Have at least three (3) years of demonstrated academic leadership or management experience, preferably as a Dean, Associate Dean, Head of Department, Director, Programme Coordinator, or equivalent. 4. Have a strong record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and research. 5. Demonstrate experience in postgraduate supervision and academic programme development. 6. Demonstrate knowledge and experience in quality assurance, accreditation, curriculum development, and academic governance. 7. Demonstrate the ability to develop students’ knowledge, practical skills, professional competencies, creativity, innovation, and employability. 8. Possess strong leadership, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills. 9. Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English. 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate: • Experience leading a Faculty or Department of Computing or ICT. • International academic or professional experience. • A strong record of publications in internationally recognized journals and conferences. • Experience with Computing/ICT programme accreditation and quality assurance. • Experience in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, or Digital Transformation. • Successful research grants, consultancy, or externally funded projects. • Experience developing partnerships with ICT companies and professional organizations. • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, staff development, and institutional leadership. • Experience designing and delivering practical, skills-based, and industry-oriented learning opportunities for students. • Membership or fellowship of a recognized professional computing or ICT organization.
